Karg was founded as a one-man Black Metal project in august 2006, what was common at this time. One and only member J.J. (at the beginning of the band still named V.Wahntraum) startet to record first tracks in fall of the same year and created the Demo „Zeitenwende – Martyrium eines sterbenden Traums“, which was never released. Two years later in summer, he finished the work on what should be KARG’s first real output „Von den Winden der Sehnsucht #1 - …und leiser wehen die Lieder“. The first full-lengh had a playtime of 78 minutes that were splitted up into 7 songs that were musically located somewhere between dark Neo-Folk like OF THE WAND AND THE MOON and haunting Depressive Black Metal ala NYKTALGIA and AUSTERE. Since the beginning KARG always worked with clean delay guitars like early Post Rock bands do. In the same year J.J. left his hometown in the Tennen Mountains and settled in Vienna. He then began to write and record the second KARG album „Von den Winden der Sehnsucht #2 - …und doch hab‘ ich deinen Herzschlag noch in Ohren“, which was musically in a similiar mood then #1. Shortly before he finished the recording and mixing process J.J. fell into something like a life crisis, so he was not able to end the second album satisfyingly. „Von den Winden der Sehnsucht #2“ was released in autumn 2010, but is more a compromise then a concept album. Around this time J.J. was getting better and started to write new music. The third album „Apathie“ was highly influenced by opiates, hallucinogenic drugs and other sedatives which J.J. used against depressions. „Apathie“ so became a very experimental album, but on the other hand was a big step forward. In 2010 Karg became a live band. The „band“ played around 50 gigs between autumn 2010 and summer 2014 and was then laid to rest as most of the members were highly involved in other projects at this time. In winter 2013/14 J.J. was clean from downers and took around 10 days withdrawal in which he completely wrote and recorded the forth KARG album „Malstrom“. „Malstrom“ is the total opposite to „Apathie“, since it’s much quicker and much more hard-edged. The depressions abated wrath and anger. The fifth album „Weltenasche“ is the conclusio of the all by then made records and songs. But in contrast to all the other albums „Weltenasche“ ist he first KARG opus which is lyrically completely performed in the dialect J.J. grow up with and which is spoken around the mountains of his hometown. Although highly influenced by Post Rock and Hardcore, „Weltenasche“ is still a Black Metal record, even if it’s far away, from what purists qould call „Black Metal“.
