Æther Realm was formed in June of 2010 by Vincent Jones (Bass/Vocals/Orchestras), Heinrich Arnold (Guitar), and Tyler Gresham (Drums) with the goal of creating epic folk metal, a style not yet extensively seen in the United States. George Yiznitzsky (ex-guitar) and Robbie March (ex-keyboards) joined shortly afterward. The band spent the first year of its existence writing music, playing local shows, and building a devoted following in their home state of North Carolina. The band became a quartet following the departure of Yiznitsky and March in June 2011, and the entrance of guitarist Jack Rodriguez-Dougherty.
In July of 2011, the band entered The Basement Studios with Jamie King (Between the Buried and Me, The Human Abstract, Wretched). They recorded their first two song demo, Odin Will Provide, which was released in September of the same year, drawing the attention of websites like Metalsucks, Nocleansinging, and Metal Underground.
The band re-entered Jamie’s studio in February 2012 to record their debut full length album, One Chosen By The Gods. The band scrapped most of their earlier material for this album, instead choosing to rewrite most of the album from scratch. A single from the album, entitled Swampwitch, was released in May of 2012. The album was finished with mixing and orchestral arranging in August of 2012, and the band held off releasing it in hopes of first finding a record contract. Signing with Primitive Ways Records, One Chosen By The Gods is scheduled to be released on January 8th, 2013.
