TYRANT formed March 1983 in Hobart, Tasmania (Australia). Founding members: Neil 'Steel' Wilson (vocals), Andrew Zarins (guitars), Grant Wallace (guitars) Robert Zarins (drums). TYRANT is influenced by countless hard rock and heavy metal acts, from both Australia and Overseas from the 70's, 80's through to today's traditional metal acts. TYRANT has played shows all over Tasmania, including the Hobart City Hall and at various Australian venues including: The Manzil Room, Kardome Cafe, Springfields, Iron Duke, Oxford Hotel, the Republic Bar - as well as headlining the first ever "Metal Crusade" in 1985 at Selina's, Coogee Bay - Sydney. The bands' debut EP, "Never Too Loud" - topped the Hobart metal charts and reached 7 in Melbourne. TYRANT has shared the stage with numerous acts over the years including: Escape, Rose Tattoo, Bengal Tigers, Dungeon, Mortal Sin, Pete Wells Band, Surrender, Boss, Bronx, Shy Thunder, Virgin Soldiers, The Radiators - to name a few. TYRANT has released the following self financed products: Never Too Loud, Freaks Of Nature, Thunder Down Under and Live Bootleg. TYRANT is currently in Izaneer studios in Tasmania, recording a new CD with producer, Brett Collidge which is to be titled, "Save The Devil". The new CD is dedicated to all the members who have been part of the TYRANT legacy as well as celebrating - '25 years' since the bands' debut "Never Too Loud" EP was released. The new CD is slated for a late 2010 release, with all previous products to be hopefully re-issued when a distribution deal is secured. Meanwhile vocalist Neil Steel is currently fronting new band, ROADKILL - promoting debut CD "God Bless America"!
